Angelo Bertoglio, born in Cremona, studied art at the Pavia School of Art and completed his studies at the Brera Academy of Fine Arts in Milan. His studio is in Pavia, where he lives and works.
Over the years, Bertoglio has developed and deepened a profound knowledge of oil painting, using a complex and impactful pictorial technique focused on the constant exploration of color and chiaroscuro effects, a constant feature of his works. His works are almost entirely based on abstract compositions or multidimensional geometries that evoke visions of interiors and glimpses of nature. The recurring cracks and “folds” in his compositions lend the work an almost sculptural momentum that transcends the pure, two-dimensional materiality typical of paintings.
Bertoglio works only with natural light to better convey the alternating light, shadow, and color in his works, following the changing hours of the day as a symbol of the dynamics and changes of the human being.
He has performed regularly since 1985 in Italy (Milan, Pavia) and abroad (Tel Aviv).
