Gabriele Basilico – Milano

  • Gabriele Basilico
  • Photography
  • Gelatin Silver Print
  • 30x40cm

The work comes directly from the Gabriele Basilico Archive, Milan; it is an edition of 1/15 and has a double authentication (archive and gallery).

The photographs depict Milan's Central Station and were taken by Basilico in 1989. They are emblematic of his deep connection with the city. The images are part of a professional project commissioned by the Municipal Electricity Company (AEM), which invited him to photograph Milan illuminated at night along with four other internationally renowned photographers—Francesco Radino, Olivo Barbieri, Joel Meyerowitz, and Martin Parr. This project resulted in the publication Le invenzioni dello sguardo (AEM, 1989).
