IL BRUSIO DELL’OMBRA Sofia Bersanelli e Rui Wu A CURA DI NICOLA BIGLIARDI OPENING 2/10/2025, 18-21 In the rarefied silence that precedes the vision, the buzz of shadows manifests itself as a fragile threshold between the tangible and the intangible, between presence and absence, between what appears and what is imagined, between light and darkness. For the third edition of the Milano Centrale Festival, the gallery space is divided into two complementary environments: on one side, a brightly lit daytime space that houses Rui Wu’s laser-cut nighttime photographs dedicated to mountain landscapes; on the other, a place immersed in darkness, where Sofia Bersanelli’s backlit Polaroids of domestic interiors and four-act videos explore the dialectic between interior and exterior, light and shadow. The intertwining of day and night, light and darkness, presence and fading, generates a subtle rhythm, a constant pulsation in which buzz dominates. We remain suspended in a fragile atmosphere, made up of hints and whispers. The works of Sofia Bersanelli and Rui Wu thus inhabit a borderline space between reality and representation, between body and inner landscape, between human and non-human. In this buzz, composed of evanescent presences and memories emerging from the shadows, the beauty of the unsaid is revealed, of the imperceptible thresholds that separate light and thought. The work of art then becomes an act that is both fragile and powerful: it engraves the Absolute, touches the sublime, finds its voice in the silence of the humblest matter. Sofia Bersanelli was born in Milan in 1993 and lives and works between Pesaro and Milan. Rui Wu was born in China in 1991 and lives and works in Milan.
